Ballet Papier started in 1992 when artist and painter Maria La Placa began drawing ballerinas for her daughter Ambar, who was studying ballet. Over the years, her daughter grew up and this world of paper ballerinas grew with her further to become a brand. Artworks are carefully sketched out by Maria before being checked by Ambar, currently a professional dancer, who reviews the body position, style and expression to ensure they correspond to the character being depicted. Ballet Papier is a registered trademark of Maria La Placa.
